| | PACIFIC MARITIME TRANSPORT ALLIANCE (PMTA) has been promoting regional partnership since 1978 under the banner South Pacific Ports Association (SPPA In 1999, the Association changed its name to APP (Association for Pacific Ports). Then again in 2007, the APP became known as the Pacific Maritime Transport Alliance (PMTA).
The PMTA strives to promote regional cooperation, friendship and understanding between member ports and port users. Pacific island member countries affiliated to the Association are:
Papua New Guinea Solomon Islands Cook Island Tonga Tuvalu Fiji Samoa
The PMTA has been working in collaboration with Regional Maritime Programme on matters relating to ports and shipping in the region.
