Tugs:Tugs are complusory for Madang Port. Tug service is provided by Pacific Towing with one tug based in Madang-TB Yomba: 1600 hrs and for assistance in all port movements within the port areas TB Kairiru 700hrs
Pilotage:Pilotage is compulsory. 2 x pilots is
based in Madang.

Bunkers:Fuel: Diesel and fuel oil available from direct filling pipelines on overseas berth 1 from Mobil and InterOil and on road tankers for ships at at coastal berth. Berth 1& 2. Suppliers: Mobil and InterOil. Water is supplied on request by the Port Authority at Berth 1, 2 and at Coastal Barge (Stone Quay Wharf) which is in front of the Copra mill used by local copra boats/small boats. All operations here are monitored and controlled by PNG ports.

Madang port is an ISPS compliant - port area and properties are guarded by Guard Dog Security company and the port’s own securities, who monitor and control all movements.

No waste disposal facility is available. Arrangement for
disposal can also be done with the Shipping Agent and
Department of Health (Quarantine Section).

Tug, Towage, Barges and Mooring Gangs
Privately owned and operated under license issued by the PNG Ports Corporation Limited. Arrangements can be made with Private Operators through the respective shipping agents.

Wharf Facilities
Crane
There are no wharf mounted however, mobile are available
capable of lifting up to 20 tonne containers. Shippers are
advised though to check this before shipping heavier loads. Prior advice and approval must be sought from the relevant Port Authority.

Slipway, Ship Repairs & Maintenance
A new dry dock facility is in operation at Motukea (Port
Moresby) by Curtain Brothers (PNG) Ltd. Smaller vessels
of 65m LOA and 1500 grt can be accomodated at Bismark
Maritime Floating dock and Lutheran Shipping Slipway in
Madang Harbour
