PNG Ports prepares staff for massive port operations

TWENTY four employees of PNG Ports Corporation Limited (PNGPCL) have completed training in port planning and terminal operations in preparation for massive operations involving the Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes recently in Port Moresby.

The employees who did the training were operations officers based in the PNGPCL port operations, terminal and berth planning sections at the Lae and Port Moresby port.

General Manager Corporate Services, Mr. Jerome Peniasi told participants that this type of training was provided in preparation for the introduction of the RTGs in Lae and Port Moresby.

The officers now know how to do real time planning, monitoring and control of operations at the gates, storage yards and quayside.

They learnt how to satisfy customers through high quality service and efficient terminal operations.

Other benefits from this pre-planned training included maximising terminal productivity by optimising operations processes and minimise potential of human errors.
