A new chapter in Lae for PNG Ports Corporation commences
A NEW chapter in Lae for PNG Ports Corporation Limited (PNGPCL) has commenced with the delivery of two mobile harbour cranes last week for the PNGPCL Lae Port.

Pictured (above) is the vessel arriving at the Lae Port on the 20th of October this year with the two towering mobile harbour cranes on board.

Prior to the arrival and delivery at Lae Port, a team of Gottwald (the supplier) personnel flew in from Singapore on the 18th of October, 2011 to assist with assembling of the counterweights on the 24th and 25th of October 2011.

The Gottwald personnel will also assist with the provision of basic site training to technical personnel and operators commencing tomorrow (26th October) to 4th November this year.

According to Gottwald Port Technology, the Mobile Harbour Cranes are slewing boom cranes.

They were introduced to the market in 1956 and have been developed continually since then.

With maximum lifting capacities of up to 200 tonnes and working radius of up to 56 metres, Mobile Harbour Cranes are used to load and discharge all types and sizes of ships.

Because their lifting gear can be changed quickly, Mobile Harbour Cranes are suitable for flexible handling of all types of cargo, including containers, general cargo, bulk materials and project cargo.

Mobile Harbour Cranes are equipped with rubber-tyred chassis and are highly mobile.

They travel to the ships that are to be loaded and unloaded, and they can be used throughout almost the entire terminal.
