PNG Ports Corporation declares war against Malaria
PNG Ports Corporation Limited (PNGPCL) has declared was against malaria and will soon be rolling out its anti-malaria campaign with the assistance of non-government organisations – Population Services International (PSI) of Papua New Guinea and Rotary Against Malaria.

In a three part campaign commencing this month; PNGPCL’s Corporate Communications Department and Life-Skills Coach with the guidance of PSI will carry out awareness and educate staff about the causes, prevention and treatment of malaria at all its 15 ports. 

The second stage of the campaign will be an organised test and treatment program for all staff commencing in Port Moresby port.

Life-Skills Coach, Mrs. Arietta Kairey said there are also plans in place for a possible distribution of treated mosquito nets to each PNGPCL staff as the third phase of the campaign.

She said that malaria is a deadly parasitic disease which affects everyone globally and with the leadership of Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Brian Riches, PNGPCL will launch its campaign to fight the disease.

Meanwhile, PNGPCL’s malaria fogging exercise at its ports will continue with the assistance of the National Capital District Commission’s Malaria Task Force team.
